Excellence cluster

Together with the universities in Giessen and Frankfurt as well as the Max Planck Institute for cardiac and pulmonary research in Bad Nauheim, the Kerckhoff clinical center is part of the “Cardio Pulmonary System Excellence Cluster”, ECCPS. The objective of this close collaboration is to create an equivalent that is capable of transferring the extraordinary performances of the research partners to the medical practice of our clinical center.

The ECCPS is focusing its work on three fields that are essential for the clinical care:

• vascular diseases of the heart and lung
• disorders of the basic heart and lung tissue and
• interaction between the heart and lung

Thus, from a research point of view, the excellence cluster is ideally suited to reflect part of the range of medical care services offered by the Kerckhoff clinical center and, therefore, represents an ideal partner of our clinical center for the innovative treatment of our patients on a excellent medical level.

The dose cooperation between science and medicine is a main factor guaranteeing success in our search for the causes of heart and lung diseases.
