Centre for heart, thoracic and rheumatic diseases

Your health is the focus of our work! Our service spectrum includes all modern diagnostic and treatment procedures for heart, thoracic and rheumatic diseases.

  • CardiologyCardiology
The cardiology unit has 105 beds for in-patients and is one of the largest centers for cardiovascular conditions in Germany.
  • Heart SurgeryHeart Surgery
The number of heart operations at the Kerckhoff Clinic has increased steadily since 1988. Today, more than 2,500 operations per year are performed with the heart-lung machine.
  • Thoracic Surgery Thoracic Surgery
Since the beginning of 2008 the clinic has encompassed a department for thoracic surgery. Together with the department for pneumology, the thoracic centre - established in 2009 - delivers comprehensive care to patients with pulmonary diseases right through to lung transplants.
  • RheumatologyRheumatology
The Unit for Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology has 49 beds and is one of the largest rheumatology centers in Germany.
  • PneumologyPneumology
Working in close cooperation with the department for thoracic surgery, we offer comprehensive and personalised care to patients with lung diseases at the Kerckhoff Clinic's thoracic centre, which was established in 2009.
  • RehabilitationRehabilitation
A modern treatment model: The rehabilitation centre at the Kerckhoff Clinic, situated on the spa gardens and directly connected to the clinic, offers all medical rehabilitation services in the field of cardiological, angiological and pulmonological rehabilitation to private patients and those with public healthcare cover.
  • Anaesthesiology

Our anaesthetists aided by modern and reliable monitoring, guarantee a careful start to the operation as well as supervising the anaesthetic during surgery. Specially developed techniques enable the patient to recover more quickly after surgery.

  • Radiology

In the Kerckhoff Clinic we have the whole range of diagnostic equipment like ultra sound scan, x-ray, scintigraphy, computer tomography (CT) magnet resonance tomography (MRI) and also a PET/CT with TruFlight technology.

  • Transfusion medicine

Our central laboratory with its highly modern automated equipment guarantees top level results within a short space of time 24 hours a day. We also offer a special coagulation course for patients taking coagulative medication.

  • Physical medicine, osteology

Physical medicine is utilised at the Kerckhoff Clinic in the fields of cardiology, heart and thoracic surgery, rheumatology and cardiological rehabilitation.

  • Cardiopsychology

We were one of the first centres in Germany to establish our own department for cardiopsychology, in which the interrelations between psychological elements and heart diseases can be specifically analysed and treated in our patients.

  • Transplant centre

A heart transplant is the final treatment available to patients with the most severe forms of irreversible heart disease in the final stage. Heart transplants have been performed regularly at the Kerckhoff Clinic since the end of the 1980s. We have been the central Hessian transplant centre for thoracic organs since 2011 and we perform heart and lung transplants on adult patients.
